Welcome to Carolina Urological Associates research and clinical trials area. As part of our commitment to provide the finest and most cutting-edge care in urology, we are involved in various research projects and clinical trials. We often participate in partnership with PMG Research of Winston-Salem,
Clinical trials usually involve a new urologic medication or device that is being evaluated for effectiveness and safety. All trials are approved by an Institutional Review Board prior to beginning to ensure that the patient's safety and welfare are strictly maintained. Not everyone with a given condition qualifies for a research study. If you qualify to participate in a clinical trial, your doctor might offer you that opportunity. Participation, however, is strictly voluntary and will not affect your present or future care at Carolina Urological. In the past, research opportunities have included patients with prostate and bladder cancer, elevated PSA, BPH, ED, overactive bladder, nocturia, and low testosterone. See our home page for clinical trials currently enrolling. Contact 245-2144 for more clinical trial information or visit the PMG Research website (www.pmg-research.com) for trials in urology and other specialty areas.
The research staff is directed by board certified urologist and board certified investigator David Cook, MD, CPI. He received certification by the Association of Clinical Research Professionals as a principal investigator in 2007. Dr. Cook has more than ten years experience as principal investigator in urology clinical trials. Working in conjunction with PMG Research, the research staff has an extensive database of patients with various urological conditions and the opportunity to enroll subjects from the large and vibrant practices of Carolina Urological Associates physicians. Please contact Dr Cook (336-245-2100) for more information.
